Irreversible Entanglements (IE) is a free-jazz quintet with an experimental punk mentality, that consists of poet/vocalist Camae Ayewa (often known as Moor Mother), bassist Luke Stewart, trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, saxophonist Keir Neuringer, and drummer Tcheser Holmes. It is a community band playing deeply improvised, rhythm music full of love and social commitment. Silvervest is the project of Nicolas Caloia and Kim Zombik that cruxes intimacy at the heart of their compositions.Playing in the field of jazz, storytelling, avant-pop, and soundscapes, they offer fresh music that is intuitive and potent. Ever open to possibilities, the duo explores the nuts and bolts of humanity’s mortal coil with tenderness, humour and tunefulness. And to beautifully start the night, the world premiere of CYANO SUN SUITE is a concert film in seven poems, shot at the iconic Montreal Biosphere, performed to improvised hipjazzsoulbopfunkhop. Directed by Stefan Verna; written, performed and produced by Tawhida Tanya Evanson; and featuring improvised music by members of Kalmunity Vibe Collective, this 43-minute visual album is an afro-ancestral dream of outer space told through word, sound and science.
